Default blackberry from Indonesia to USA

Please Login to Remove!

HI I have a very basic question, but have not been able to find an answer anywhere.

I am planning to buy a blackberry in Indonesia, where I live, and bring it with me to the USA in a couple of weeks. I will probably sign up for the Telkomsel monthly service in Bali.

However, I'm wondering WILL I be able to use it in America, with some sort of pre-paid plan in America? And do I have to get it unlocked or something like that?

Last year I brought my Motorola Razr with me and was unable to use it evern though I was told when I bought it I could use it as it was a quad-band.

Thanks for any help!

Wirelessly posted (8100)

You have to subscribe for international roaming data plan by Indonesian carrier.

Madeinbali - there are no prepaid BLACKBERRY data plans in the US. If you have it unlocked, you could get a SIM here and use it, but only for voice and SMS text. You would not be able to use if for BlackBerry data services, including e-mail.
