I have a 7290 BB and was excited about the Bluetooth feature. I tried 2 different headsets (new Motorola HS850 and Jabra BT110) and both of them sounded horrible. So much "crackling" and poor audio quality. Is anyone else experiencing this same problem or is it just me? I want to use BT so bad, but the sound quality is horrible compared to my wired headset.

I wonder if there is not something wrong with the phone itself. I get great quality from my BT7100t and my motorola HS 810.

Tried a Jabra headset today and got excellent quality.

Do you have the latest operating software for the phone?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have v3.8 (which is the most recent for the 7290 / Cingular).

Try reloading your handheld OS or upgrade to the 4.0 software (currently only available from Hong Kong). I'm using it on my Cingular 7290.
You may just have a bad device - my bluetooth quality is excellent.

How close is the BT device and the BB? I find that more than 10 feet, in an electronics area, gives greatly decreased performance. Home PC, Wireless Lan, TV, UPS, etc is what I mean by an electronics area.

I have the BB7290 and Jabra 250 and my sister commented that my voice quality is the best it's been in 10 years. I spent 5 years in Asia with a callback service and here in the States I alway used my Samsung i700 with the handsfree piece.

I've also noticed that movement of the BB from the same side of my body as the earpiece to the opposite side causes some static during the movement, but keeping the pieces in a line of site never has a problem except when distance is involved.

My wife has the Jabra BT250 and it was like night and day in audio quality compared to the Plantronics M2500. Her voice is a lot clearer, louder, and more natural. She doesn't sound like she's talking inside a drum especially when she's in her car.

How does the wired headset sound with your 7290 ... just for testing to compare against the bt headset?

My wired Jabra headset sounds awesome. I will go back to Cingular today and do come comparison to see if it is a defective BB. Thanks for your help.
