Default Anyway to search address book by address?

Please Login to Remove!

Either there is a big problem with the address book, missing a big feature, or I just can't find it.
Why isn't there a way to search for contacts by their address? for example why can't I type 123 Main Street and have all contacts/business in that building? Or in that city?

Use the search icon located on the homescreen. You should be able to select where you want to search and enter a text string to search for...

Nope.
Why don't you just try it first. Search app does not search for addresses, strangely.

As far as I know, it's never been able to do so.

The address book is indexed by first, last and company name only.

Isn't this a bit stupid, especially while WM phones could do this. How about iPhone, I wonder if it can search the address field. This is something that should have been addressed on 5.0. Can anyone with 5.0 check it?

I have come across the same problem! On the blackberry it is not possible to search address book by address. The problem is the same for the itouch. The search application interface almost implies that you can search contacts by text, but this does not happen. I am very disappointed by both the blackberry and the itouch. Outlook 2003 will search by any string, and I believe this true for Pocket PC. What ever moans we have about Microsoft, at least on this point they deliver...
In any of you know of a good 3rd party software, let me know.

parimalmanek, we are not alone, I have heard this complaint from a few co-workers and friends, but there isn't much we can do. Hopefully when xobni for blackberry is available, it may help us. Although I don't see any address book search in Xobni for Outlook, but it is a possibility...

Have a look at e-Mobile Contact Professional Edition at appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/2112 . In the description it says "Search contacts by name, phone number, email, address and company name." Is this what we are looking for. Are there any users of this software who can share some info with us..??
Thanks

I don't see a demo for it, and there is only just one single review
"doesn't show all the phone numbers in the built in address book! Only shows home, work, and mobile! DOES NOT show work2, home2, pager, etc! Very high price for what you get! Also if you have mobile numbers listed as "work", it won't let you text the number until you change it to "mobile". Frankly, I don't want to spend hours changing 350 contacts!"
