Unhappy Bb 8330 Usb!!!!!

I am having a huge problem with my Blackberry Curve 8330. When I plug the USB cable into the phone, the icon next to the battery indicator goes on for about 4 seconds and then disappears. My PC does not recognize the device nor does the Desktop Manager. This happened about 2 months ago and has been the same ever since. I tried different cables, USB ports and PC's. The problem is with the phone. I dont know if the COM/USB port on the phone is damaged or I have to change a setting. Bottom line, the computer does not know the phone is connected when I plug the USB cable into the computer. I called verizon and they are sending me a new phone under the Manufact. warranty. But without the phone being detected by Desktop Manager, I cant do a "device switch wizard" to copy all the contents of my phone to the new phone. I even tried a hard reset and that didnt work.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
