1. In order to use blackberry messenger, can you use it on pay as you go? or only contract? 2. How much does it cost for blackberry messenger? I heard its free, (confused)

No.
You need to have a BLACKBERRY data plan (in the case of t-mobile the Blackberry Email Booster) on your account.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry. how would i get a blackberry email booster, how much would it be and what is it? Bear in mind im on pay as you go, thanks

T-mobile do not offer pay as you go blackberry data plans.
only with contract or solo (sim only plans)
Orange are the only UK network to offer blackberry data plans with payg.
I have no idea how much it costs.

You would need to get your BB unlocked, go to an orange store and enquire there.
