I've had my (1st) BB for not quite 3 weeks now, and am still figuring out the basics. I'm not very techy, so please keep that in mind as well if you can help me.

The only emails (regular blackberry.net account) I received since setting up the phone was the 'welcome' type one when the AT&T rep talked me through setting up my account. I've tried sending some to myself from my work & home accounts, as well as friends from their blackberry.net accounts - nothing is going through.

Also, when my contact list was transferred from my Sony Ericsson phone, it's all messed up and all phone numbers are shown as 'work' phone numbers and have /1 or /2 at the end of the contact name, with everything on the 'first name' line.

Even when I go in to each individual contact and edit them, putting 1st name & last name on appropriate lines and saving, they still appear with last name first.

I have gone to
SETTINGS (listed as device in my help menu)
>OPTIONS
>>LANGUAGE
>>>Change name display (to first name, last name) & saved this change

My contact list still appears with all last names first.

This is very frustrating as I have last names in there for lots of acquaintances, or my children's friends who I mostly know only by their first names, so when I can't recall their last name, I have to search my entire contact list (almost 200 contacts) for the right listing.

change SORT BY to FIRST NAME

so both under contacts options AND language options are set to first name?
because you only mentioned changing the option in Language

Yes, I went in under both

settings>options>language>first name, last name
and
contacts>options>general>sort by first name

I retried both again just now to be on the safe side, but this is how both were already set - no changes made.
