Hi can any one answer this question for me?

Is their anyway you can use BES without connecting to an exchange server ie just use the platform for the device control and management whilst the devices are still getting email from a carrier BIS service?

Thanks in advance

No, there is no way to do that. If you want to have the management & security a BES provides, you need an email platform to connect to (Exchange, Groupwise, Domino).

Hi Petforda,

No, you can't use BES without an e-mail platform connected to the BES Server, think about it this way: how would you activate the users' BlackBerries without entering the e-mail address (which must be exchange/groupwise/notes) under Enterprise Activation?

Regards.

Did you forget that BES for MDS exists?

By connecting the device to the BES (or BES connected Desktop Manager) via USB cable and doing a traditional wired Enterprise Activation.
