1. Remove the battery NOW.
2. Dry it out for 4-5 days withOUT replacing the battery to check it each day.
Read this: Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ
3. Have you got a backup of the device? If so, you can retrieve your text messages.
If you don't have a backup, you will need to wait until after the 4-5 days drying time.

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

I have about 50% success with the wet device solution problems. My hope is that you had insurance just in case.

my berry was in my pocket and my friends pushed me in the pool so berry was soaked.

i did remove the battery, left it to dry, ran the hair dryer over it, and then after a couple of days, berry was 100% back to normal. sometimes it just needs a lil more love.

I just dropped my blackberry in the sink like 3 days ago. Was using a HTC in the mean time. I reassembled the Bold today and tada it was back to 100 percent. Keys worked, all buttons and screen resolutions was fine. Yah they are pretty durable when it comes to water damage. BUt definately removing the battery and letting it dry is key.

i would STRONGLY suggest removing the battery immediately after water damage. don't try and even so much so as attempt to switch on your phone. you never know, it might just short circuit.. or something to that effect.
