Default Abbreviated Dialing

Please Login to Remove!

anyone know of any ap that allows you to only dial the last 4 digits of a phone number to call on the Tour? I am a recent BB user...had used a Treo 650 for several years and loved that application. Heck, I can't even remember some of the prefixes for numbers cause I've only dialed the last 4 digits for so long!
Any help is appreciated!

The only thing I'm aware of is using Smart Dialing, but that only works if you're calling the same place of business. That is, you know a bunch of people at Company XYZ, so you're always dialing the same main number, then you dial the person's 4-digit extension.

Go into the phone (press the green button) then Options, then Smart Dialing.

Where it sasys "To access office extensions within my corporatatio, call Number:", put in the main number for the business.

Then when you want to dial people, you can do so by dialing x1234, where 1234 is there extension.

Kathy, don't dial numbers, learn to use the BlackBerry as intended, and type the users first or last name in the top field, and dial from there.

All you have to do is to remember the contact's name.

that's what I've been doing......just seems easier to me to punch in 4 numbers that I remember because I may have up to 4 different phone numbers under one person's name and that way it's like going direct where I want to be rather than another step of choosing after getting the person's info pulled up.
Keep up the suggestions! I'm hoping someone may know of some little ap out there that lets me do what I could do on my trusty old Treo!

Or just use Speed Dial where you are only pressing one letter.

1. It's not a Treo, get over that sooner than later and you'll be much better off.
2. I don't see how remembering "Smith" is harder than to remember "8624" or something like that.

It's not that it's "easier" to remember a name vs a number.....knowing the last 4 digits only requires that I "look at" the device to locate that first number, my thumb knows the numerical keyboard (much like using an adding machine by feel vs sight) and I can pop those numbers in and hit send almost automatically. And this is done with just my right thumb if I'm busy....If I have to type in the name, I have to do it visually since my memory doesn't recall the full keyboard...then scroll through maybe 2 work numbers, a cell number, home number etc...to choose the one I need.
I promise I'm not a dumb dora! And as one person mentioned....I realize it's not a treo! But if the ap was ever out there for any phone or pda, surely it was something others found useful as well.
As for using speed dial.....then I have to learn which 4 digits go to what assigned speed dial number....I'm right back where I was!
I'm simply trying NOT to recreate the wheel and find an ap that allowed the abbreviated dialing. I didn't want to have to relearn a "new way" if there was something out there that could replace what I'm used to!
I was just hoping there was an ap someone here knew of but I guess there isn't one!
Thanks for the suggestions anyway!

I've never seen that app for a BlackBerry.

Guess it is time to learn a new way.

Good luck.
