I am tyring to install Facebook 1.6 Application on my Blackberry 8520 Smartphone. I have tried to install it through the Handheld browser, and also by connecting the devise to Desktop Manager through Data Cable on Laptop. On both the occassions the error message displays that my Blackberry 8520 handheld is not campatible for the Facebook Application software.

Any help on this issue will be appreciated.

What type of install is it? Does it require a BB data plan? What are the requirements for the app in general? BB's don't use .jad/.jar installers, they use a .alx, som that could be the issue right there. ALso, if you arent running the BB data plan, you will have issues getting some apps to work on your BB. By manually editing your TCP and WAP settings, you can restore a fair amount of this functionality,. but there are still some apps that wont work.

I am using Blackberry Personal Email Plan on the Airtel Mobile Service in India. This plan does not allow browsing facility. I am trying to install the facebook application from the Blackberry website directly. It provides two options for the Facebook app
1. Ver. 1.7 for handsets with browsing service activated
2. Ver. 1.6 for handsets without browsing service
I am trying to install Version 1.6, as I do not have browsing service activated on my handheld. It is unable to install, though the Blackberry website states that this application is compatible with all the Blackberry handsets.

How will I edit my TCP and WAP settings manually? What editing do I need to make?

You will need to get that information from your carrier, first of all, though, you should find the settings in options/advanced options/TCP and option/advanced options/browser
You may also need to enable browser push directly below browser. But, since you are using an app off of the BB site, it may not work, because you dont have web browsing with your BB plan. I'm having a similar issue finding a yahoo/IM app that I can use. You may need to try and find a different facebook app via a third-party source. Good luck.
