just heard that if i have a blackberry smart phone on AT&T service that i will have to have the internet plan? is that right? that would be more money spent? is there a way to go around this? i wanna keep my blackberry without pay for anymore money.

Yes, that's correct. New devices activated after the specified date must have a data plan. There's no way around it.
