Have been hearing a lot of problems with OS 5 lately. Also saw where Verizon was not recommending upgrading just yet.

i found it odd that i got a message on my phone about it, but i've also heard what you mentioned on this forum. seems like they should work the bugs out before they release stuff. i got the helper at the verizon store to lock my phone up with a simple text. yeah! the downgrade was a good thing.

We upgraded our 2 phones to OS 5 and had no problems and I am really happy we did. I strongly recomend it. The Storm is now pleasant to use now. Was wondering why i kept the storm past the 30 day window now I am happy i did.

I have tried numerous "leaked" OS's and had settled on .151 for some time. I upgraded to .328 on Tuesday and what a difference. This handheld responds now like it should have at first release. There are "minor" hiccups (screen dimming) and apps and themes are still catching up but all in all this OS is wonderful. I had read and responded to a post on this forum about Verizon Techs not recommending the upgrade. I believe that OP was confused because he was trying to update his Tour with the Storm OS!

If you have not done so already, I highly recommend the upgrade. It is an entirely new handheld. It may even hold me over until I can upgrade at discounted pricing (July) to the Storm 2.

Interesting. I thought VZW was still supporting the upgrade as it is still up on the vzw.smithmirco site.

Personally, my Storm has never operated more smoothly. I have done all the leaks/betas/hybrids up to and including .151 but to echo SCASSEL...this 5.0 is a thing of beauty.

I find it fascinating that there are so many varied experiences... across so many users... involving ONE device; the Storm. (obviously not including the Storm2 in this case).
And I am by no means being sarcastic... it just is interesting... to me.

I know.. I need to find a hobby... or get a life... yeah ok whatever.

Default Vs. 5.0 Charging problems!!!? - 10-30-2009, 06:18 PM

So I am desperately in need of some help regarding the new vs5. I am running so low on battery and my charger wont seem to work since I upgraded I love the new upgrade but every time I try to plug in to the charger or through USB. It says that "The Charging Source connected to your blackberry device cannot charge your battery." I have not done anythign new, except upgrade to vs 5 which i love, but am I supposed to manipulate the settings some how to get it to charge. I appreciate your help thanks.

Ok due to a quick battery pull, all is well.... the issue was getting my protective case off my BB without destroying it. Thanks to all.

Yeah there is a problem with 5.0 not recognizing the wall charger and/or vehicle charger. Have to reset by pulling the battery. Verizon has been notified and the rep said he would sent the information to tech support for a fix. The phone will however charge from a computer via USB port with no problems. Otherwise no other problems for me so far. Works great.

I was going to wait a few weeks before I loaded the new 5.0 on my Storm9530.Well on Monday my Storm died and Verzion FedExed me a new one with 5.0 installed on it. I am happy to say that the transfer of info from old Storm to new went with out a problem and I am reallly happy with the new OS. Just hope this Storm last longer than the other 2 Verizon has given me since June. But they keep giving them to me so I am a happy guy.
