Default Texting Question

I'm texting another VZW customer and I always get the check mark and the D but this morning I'm only getting the check mark. Does this mean there is something wrong on their end? I've texted other VZW customers today and have received the D. Thanks for your help!

I believe the message was sent but not yet delivered. More than likely that person's phone is turned off and cannot be delivered. They will receive it when the phone is turned on and then the D will show up on your phone.

The checkmark means the message was sent, the "D" means it was delivered to the recipient and an "R" means they read it. Like misaac said, most likely the person doesn't have their phone on or they were using it for a phone call at the time. I have had situations where random messages didn't ever show a D or R, yet I know they were received.

R does not apply for text messages.
Only BBM messages/PIN messages

It does when SMSing Verizon to Verizon. When going outside of their network it won't show a D or an R.
