Default New to Blackberry : Need help with setting up Messenger

I just bought my first blackberry. I got the Storm2 which is an awesome phone.

Im stuck on how to set up blackberry messenger?

On my options is says "Pin:Null"? Ive tried to add a friend but he said he hasnt got the request?

I have no idea what I have to set up etc, so a step by step guide would be fantastic
