Default OZ messenger on BB curve 8900

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, i recently downloaded app called "OZ messenger"

As you know it an IM app which uses SMS instead of data.
(having said that,,I do not have any form of data plan)

It runs okay but when I try to log on to MSN,,it gives me an error saying

"GPRS data access is not available"

So here are my questions,,,

1. what does "GPRS data access is not available" mean?

2. Althougth OZ messenger uses SMS..Do i still need some sort of "data plan" in order to log in and use it?

3. Any other FREE IM apps that works without data plan?

Thanks guyz!

1. Sounds like a network coverage issue. Either that, or OZ Messenger can't communicate with your network through your 8900. I thought OZ Messenger was long gone, mostly because of how bad is sucked. The last device I used it on was a 7105t.

2. You don't need a data plan if your messenger program uses SMS. You will want to have an SMS messaging package though. Probably an unlimited plan because OZ sends messages constantly when it's connected and running. It keeps polling the network, and each one is a new SMS.

3. Nope. Get a data plan. It won't cost much more than an unlimited SMS bundle anyway. Then you can use a real IM program like BeeJive.
