Default HELP...Spilled Alcohol all over my Tour!!!! - 11-06-2009, 09:59 PM

OMG!! This happened like 2 days ago. Stupid me was rushing for work and I use alcohol to clean down my face. So , as I was rushing, I had the BB by the keyboard and as I reached for the alcohol, the bottle tipped over and ...you guessed it! ALL OVER the Tour . I just got this puppy a few weeks ago. Ughhh.

Now the inside screen is like stained. Makes the screen look 3-Dish. The BB works well, because I immediately took it out of case and pulled the battery and cleaned it off, let it sit and dry..even in the sun. What can I do? if I took it to Sprint, would they be able to tell is got soaked in some kind of solvent? Where on the Tour is the wet indicator?

JE

The Liquid Damage Indicator is a small 1/8" white square inside the the battery compartment.

Dry it well. LEAVE the battery out a few days.

Now, your face cleaner likely is not just alcohol, is it? Some kind of oil in there too. Alcohol dries well, and quick, and I've even used isopropyl alcohol to clean the insides of a BlackBerry that had sweet tea spilt on it.

Ok..I see it. it's not red! it is still white. So I am guessing I can swap out my tour in about a week should the screen not revert to normal again...I'm gonna try the freezer thing.

And I use Alcohol, Peroxide and Witch Hazel to clean my face.

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000, answers to HAL)

Had a similar accident with my Bold. I put it under a fan set to high for a few hours in a warm room. The alcohol evaporated away and the screen returned to normal. Leave the back cover off & blow the fan toward the back.

Put it in rice and it will be dry in no time.

What do you mean?
Did um, did Caesar live here?
Um... no.
I didn't think so.

D'oh!

The traditional remedies for water damage may not apply to alcohol damage. Because alcohol evaporates by itself so quickly, I'd try the warm room/fan procedure. Unless the alcohol acted as a solvent and damaged internal components it should dry completely.
