Hi ...I am having a strange problem I cannot seem to resolve ..It appears it may have something to do with the laptop itself but I would like to fix it.
Anyway, I have uninstalled and re-installed the Desktop Manager serveral times using some detailed instructions from RIM. Including some registry adjustments. Cannot seem to shake this issue. Seems to be an intermittent connection problem with the Blackberry device. The symtom is as follows.
This is also on a Enterprise server. When you open the desktop get the email prompt password and the blackberry password prompts but there is a window that flashes erratically on and off. The Title of the window is "Windows Installer" with the message "Preparing to install" when you get in the passwords ...then the device is not recognized by the Destop some of the entry points are greyed out. ....I was able to get a back up of the device on another laptop computer. Any idea on how I may fix this or where I can direct this issue for help in fixing it? Thank you for you time. Have a great day!

If you're on a corporate BES, there may be an IT Policy in place that prevents local syncing on your work computer. At Goldman Sachs we couldn't install any desktop software at all, so the issue may be with the pc. Best to speak to your IT guys. And bring beer.
