Default Using an unlocked Bell 8830 World Edition in Asia

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone used an unlocked 8830 World Edition in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam) with a local sim card?

I understand that all Bell 8830 units are "unlocked" out of the box, but mine still says "active" under the network settings (options-advanced-sim card-network-active). Just want to make sure it is actually unlocked.

Also, what are the implications of using the local sim card on the BBM and email applications? Will they still work?

Thanks very much,

Daniel
