Default My 8830 MemoPad defaults to edit mode

Please Login to Remove!

I've seen this question in 2 or more other posts in as many forums. But I did not find an answer to it. So others have this issue, too. My 8830 defaults to edit mode when I go into a memo in MemoPad. Because of that it is impossible to use the nifty shortcuts to move quickly around in a long memo. What is the solution to that? I just want to set it so that when I go into a memo it will be in Read-only mode. Then if I want to edit it I can choose edit mode. That doesn't seem like much to ask. Thanks

I don't even see a read-only mode. Mine goes directly into edit too. Are we talking about the same application? The default BB Memo Pad?

Has it always done this, or did it previously open in read-only mode? Try a battery pull while running to force a soft reset and see if that cures it. You might also try opening each memo and use the Menu key to select "save", in case one memo was left opened and in edit mode.

Scottjb, no, it's not actually called Read-Only. I just used that term to distinguish from Edit mode. Sorry for the confusion on that. With my 7250 I could navigate around in the memo without editing it. Enter moved me one page forward and Alt-Enter one page backward. Worked great.
Rambo47, I got this 8830 from a friend. I don't think he used MemoPad very much and probably not long ones like I do. Anyway, I tried the battery reset without any help. I wouldn't even mind it so much, but even after I save a memo it still stays in edit mode. I cannot get out of edit mode. And I know I'm not the only one with this issue. This same issue has been posted elsewhere.

Default Defaults to Edit mode 9700

I completely agree -- was much MUCH better when it didn't default to Edit mode because of all the shortcuts available. I use Memopad alot and they're often very long ... having quick access to search and pg dn (using spacebar) was fantastic. At the very least you should be able to switch via Options to auto Edit mode ON or OFF. Blackberry developers are you listening??
