Do you have a backup file?

would that be on my phone or pc? sorry not to savvy on these phones... never did a sync on this...

If you didn't backup the blackberry to a pc or laptop, and you haven't sync'd your contacts, etc to Outlook or something like that, then you are out of luck.

Just to be certain of things here, you have the contacts and tasks apps on the blackberry, just they are empty, right?

Also, I when you say update, I assume you mean you did a device software upgrade using desktop manager, correct? If so, a backup was probably done during the process. I can't remember if it is automatic, or if you are asked if you want to do it. If it was done, there will be a .ipd file on your computer somwhere. If you have it, that's a backup file. Use desktop manager to selectively restore the contacts and tasks databases.

woke up to my phone telling me a wireless update was waiting to be installed... did it while it was hooked to my pc and it did the install and then when it was done I had everything but lost all my contacts and task lists.... I'm searching now for that .ipd file...
