Hello out there. I have a Blackberry 8330 Curve. I have an outlook program on there which is synchronized to my Blackberry. I get reminders on my Outlook calendar, which is a good thing, but every time I get a reminder on my Blackberry, it automoatically turns it on again, and that is a bad thing. How do I turn of the reminders on my Blackberry without affecting the reminders on my work computer?


I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

I don't know how to do what you want, but...

I used to get "turn off" and "full power off" when I would turn my blackberry off. Do you have that?

I just checked and the only way I could get it was to enable the alarm. I remember, maybe with an earlier OS, that I had the option if I had a reminder set. Don't know why I don't have it now except for alarm, burt if you see the options when you turn the blackberry off, select full power off.

I think the OP is asking about getting reminders on the PC but not on the BB. AFAIK that isn't possible. Either you have reminders on both or none.

Yeah, I understand, and I don't think the op can do what he wants, either. My thought was along the lines of preventing the blackberry from waking up. Right now, I only get the full power off option when I set the alarm. I'm almost certain that with a previous OS I would also get the full power off option if I had an appointment or task reminder set. I wonder if maybe that has been added back with newer OS versions and thought it was worth checking.

The only message I get when I turn the power off is the above. It doesn't have two options as aiharkness describes. It looks like I'll just have to live with the problem, I guesss I can always temporarily stop synchronizing when I am in trial.

Yeah, has happened to me on planes before. Only fix was full power off.

ahi, how are you turning it off? Through the icon or the red key? The "Turn Power Off" icon is where the 2 options come up which I thought would carry into the 8330.

I only get the full power off option when the alarm is set, as I said, but also only when I use power off using the icon. When I turn off by holding the power button on top, I get the nessage that the blackberry will turn on at such and such time, press any key to abort. But, as I say, only whan the alarm is set; not for reminder alerts.

To the op, the blackberry coming on isn't the problem, is it, but just the alert, is that true? If so, why not just set the blackberry to the quiet profile? You will see the reminder notice displayed on the screen, but you would also see same when you turn the blackberry on.

+1 for the quiet or vibrate profile -- that's precisely what they're for.
