Default Blackberry messenger spy?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330. Over the course of the last several months, I've used Blackberry Messenger to keep in touch with one particular person. For various reasons, we've each at times deleted the other. Then, when we decide to reconnect, one of us has to send a new invite and the other has to accept.

Strangely, today, we both showed up in each other's contact lists and neither of us had sent or accepted an invite from the other. How could this happen?

Additional note, my friend recently got a new blackberry and gave his old one to his brother. But since the pin numbers are different, I can't imagine a way for his brother to somehow resurrect the connection from the old phone.

Please help in understanding this.

Are you and/or the other person running BBM 5? If so, the program will run a contact backup either to a registered BIS email account or to your micro SD card and when the new device is activated it will do a restore when the new program is started.

I do not know if the other is running 5.0. Mine is 4.5 though. But either way, how could a contact just reappear on my list that I didn't first accept?

If the last backup that was performed was with you included in the contacts it would then restore that backup to his new device. Additionally to make the transition to a new device/pin the new BBM will send updates to all the friends in your BBM contact list updating the new pin therefore inadvertently adding that person back in your contact list. I guarentee there most definately no BBM spy present.
