Welcome to the forums.

No, Sprint will not allow you to use a device that is not theirs on their network.

Unlocking will allow you to use it on a GSM carrier such as ATT or TMO. SPRINY, like Verizon, is a CDMA carrier. And as jsconyers said above, Sprint will not allow another carrier's device on their network. It would have to be a SPRINT branded device.

Yeah, this is a pain in the butt. I think it's high time for Sprint to start activating ANY cdma phone on their network. Lets face it - folks jump from carrier to carrier a ton based on what phone they can get. Forget coverage, forget plan features and cost. The average Joe wants the hot new shiny mobile. Sprint is WAY behind Verizon in phone selection, but with one move they could eliminate Verizon's advantage: activate any phone on Sprint. Want a Droid? BAM! How about a Storm2? DONE! Sprint could activate them if they chose to eliminate their draconian policy of Sprint-only phones on their network. And don't tell me they're afraid of losing their exclusive on the Palm Pre! So Verizon reciprocates and allows Sprint phones to be activated on Verizon's network. Yeah, that possibility would have Sprint quaking in their wingtips ---- NOT!

You cannot get it to work on that network. You could unlock it and use it on any GSM network.
