Question Gps...

Please Login to Remove!

I am traveling for a year (all over - Asia, Australia, Europe...)

I got Blackberry Tour 9630 with Verizon Unlimited World Data service ($70 a month)

how should I take advantage of the built in GPS?

what are our options?

what application(s) should I use?

thank you so much...

You're going to need a BlackBerry data plan to get maps. BlackBerrys download maps on the fly rather than cache them. Traveling from country to country means you'll need to arrange for either international roaming data or for a data plan with a carrier in each country you visit.

The OP says they added the VZW GlobalEmail package, which should cover them.

You can get latitude and longitude just about anywhere as long as the BB can see the satellites. But as rambo says, you need a bb dataplan fro most of the map applications. there are a couple that don't require it. Check the yellow sticky at the top pf the GPS & Maps section.

IMHO, you will be better off if you buy a dedicated GPS unit and not rely on the BB.

Yes but not all BB GPS apps (what the OP was asking about) work in all countries.

Anyparticular units you'd recommend for one traveling to the areas the OP mentioned? IIRC not every standalone unit comes with maps outside the US.
