i use vibrate notification for everything since im usually on aim mostly while im at school which is around 6 hours of the day (...i hate high school) but to get to the question..
is there any way to make aim shutup....it always vibrates as well as makes that im recieve noise notification.......is there a way to turn it off so it only vibrates?

I think you need to upgrade the 7100 operating system.

that's right - go to your service provider's site - download the latest software for your handheld and install it using the desktop manager.

- go here and download software; double-click installation file and install it (extract, more or less) to your machine

- open up Blackberry Destkop Manager; this should prompt you to install the new software

- if above step does not work, then open Application Loader and load new software

- handset will reboot; this can take upwards of 10 minutes, so don't freak out and take your battery out

Hi I read this article and tried it out and nothing...in fact the link you gave is already the same OS version as the one on the handheld. 3.8.0.128. Is there a newer 7100 update out there?
Is there another way to silence AIM?
I don't understand why they would not give an option to turn off AIM sounds and just have vibrate.

yea i updated it...and still it makes the sound as well as vibrates
there has gotta be a way to make it just vibrate...

Exactly there's got to be a way.either through a newer update or using another chat client
