Unhappy Wet, revived, expired

Please Login to Remove!

I will spare you the details of the drunken revelry that proceeded the event but m y Curve 8310 enjoyed a short bathe in my washing machine . Once it was rescued it was revived for a day's use by being left to dry out. Aside from some clouding of the screen all functions were normal except for the camera . I did not notice the battery was low and do not think it was but the following morning the device was not working, it would not switch on and displayed a bright red continuous light, but this only illuminated when the battery was removed from the device and replaced or the charger was connected. Typically my contacts directory were in the device and not backed up externally or to the SIM. The SIM operates in another phone but I am desparate to get my Curve working to not only retrieve my contact names and numbers but to continue its use. I have had two phones per year since the early nineties and have never used such a great phone and every day I miss it so Please help me if you can, it is my Birthday today and this would be the best present ever Thanks

The first thing you need to do when a phone gets wet is remove the battery. Then the phone needs to dry out for at least a week. Some will say it does not need to dry that long but everyone has an opinion. I have had this issue and 5 days and it now works.

If you plugged it in, to the charger most likely the phone is done. Water and electricity don't mix.

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

There is the old stick the phone in a sealed bag of uncooked
rice trick and leave for a few days but if you did what I think you did. I won't be able to improve your birthday.

Reguardless of which method you use, you need to be sure it's dried completly before putting in the battery. Unfortunatly I agree with Zrog46, I think the phone is gone unless you know someone who does phone

really appreciate you taking the trouble to respond, do you think I will be able to get the contacts from the motherboard memory or is the whole thing toast?

You can only tell after five days. Be patient and let it sit in the box of rice.

If you plugged in the battery or charger while the device was wet then there is 90% chance that the device is gone, but we still wish you good luck !
