Default How to increase frequency of email pick up

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to increase the frequency of my blackberry mail pick-up? Blackberry seems to only check my ISP about once every half hour? Any help appreciated.

It should be checking every 15 min. If your ISP supports IMAP access and the IDLE protocol, configuring the email address using IMAP instead of POP will result in push type performance.

Using BIS, RIM polls your email services every 15 minutes and pushes what it finds to your BB. If mail is found, then RIM will repoll in about 3 minutes. If it finds mail, that is pushed and it will again repoll in 2-3 minutes until no mail is found. At which time the poll reverts to the 15 minute point and the cycle begins again.

Can't be changed. However there are some IMAP accounts that get mail faster. Might be Gmail, but not sure.

Gmail is almost instantaneous.

I setup a forwarding rule for one of my OWA accts to gmail. I am surprised there's no special technology to address the other email items.

Personal opinion on email: do you really have to have at the speed of heat? Is it really THAT important? I run two companies. Use BIS. The 15 minute delay has never been a problem.

If someone really needs to reach me, they call.

I don't only find a 15 minute delay between Outlook on my PC and my phone. I find the delay much longer. Can it have something to do with emails that I automatically pick up through Outlook that precede Blackberry?

If Outlook is open and your settings are to delete mail from the server after downloading, you will never get it on your BlackBerry. Are you using redirector to get your mail? Or do you have your email account set up through BIS?

I don't find the time to be much of an issue for me with my home email over BIS.

Work email from OWA as another thing. We have a BES server, but I don't have it on my phone (it's my personal phone, and I don't want to spend the extra amount to get BES, or let work have that control over my phone). So, I have my work email set up in my BIS. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to over half an hour for my phone to pick up the email sent to my work address and picked up by Outlook at work. Another strange thing - reading (and marking it read) or deleting an email on my phone will mark read or delete the email almost immediately on Outlook (if I have it up at work). Yet, doing the same thing in Outlook will take up to two hours before it's reconciled as read or is deleted on my phone.
