Default Phone will not stay on/ Keyboard and trackball not working

Please Login to Remove!

I turn my Blackberry Curve 8320 on. It goes through the long process of turning on, with the white light and everything. It comes to my home page, but I can't move at all or use any of the keys. After maybe half a minute, it blacks out.

I suppose my phone could have gotten a little wet when I took a shower, but if so, it was very little, and I doubt that would be enough to fry it.

I have separated my phone and the battery from each other, hoping they might dry, if that is the problem.

I wonder also if the problem may just be that my keys aren't working. If they aren't working, it would make sense that my screen would black out after around half a minute.

Anyone got advice? Thanks.

btw - I tried putting the battery from my dad's identical phone into mine. The exact same thing happened.

The moisture probably damaged the phone. it may be too late because of the troubleshooting you did.

I did not have the phone in the shower. I said in my post that it got very little wetness, which would not be the case if I had brought it into the actual shower. I said it got wet when I took a shower.

I just took a shower with the phone in the restroom, and I suppose it may have gotten moist in the process, though the glass mirror in the room didn't even fog up.

But yeah, I just looked in the faq. I've been traveling the past two days and have not had much time I could get onto a computer. I looked around for the info earlier, but couldn't find it quickly enough. Hope it still can work...

Thanks.

Where is the liquid damage indicator? Is it the white square on the top left of the blackberry's back? Mine is slightly torn, but is still pure white.

Edit: I just saw a white sticker facing down on the blackberry near what I think is the sim card. It is parallel to the bottom of the memory card. It is still pure white as well.

On the bottom of the battery is a strip with red x's. They are distinct and not blurred.

I got this phone in May of last year. If it didn't show water damage through the indicator, would I still be able to redeem it under warranty?

And cleveland brown, my keys are not working either, so I think my entire blackberry seems fried. I'm waiting for it to hopefully dry, or to see if I can get another under warranty.

Water damage means you won't get one under warranty. Your only two options would be to buy a new one at full price or make an insurance claim.

I do not think my wetness indicator shows water damage.

Would they still invalidate my warranty?

The first thing the carrier is going to want to inspect is the water-damage indicators. If they indicate no water damage, then they will inspect the device for physical damage. If they are satisfied there is no physical damage, then a warranty exchange would likely be honored.
