Default Voicemail Alerts

Please Login to Remove!

For some reason and I do not know why, the voicemail alert is the same as the SMS alert......go figure. Is there anyway to change this or get around it? On Cingular someone sending you a numeric phone number as a voicemail option comes through as an SMS, and I want the 2 notifications to be different.

Any Insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Default Voicemail Notification

Brad-

Here's the thing with phone numbers sent through VM. They are actually sent as SMS messages once the user enters their number in the VoiceMail system. You should be able to change the VoiceMail notification in the Profiles section, but that will only be for voicemail that is actually left on the the voicemail service. Regardless of what you do, anytime someone enters their number as a "page" in your voicemail, it will come across as SMS.

Hope that helps!

Wirelessly posted (BB 7100G: BlackBerry7100/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

No I get that and that's actually what I like. My issue is there is no way to simply change the alert for voicemail messages, they use the same setting as SMS regardless if the person pages me or leaves an actual voice message.

I'm pretty sure I understand what you are saying. I know on mine, there are seperate settings for SMS, Voicemail, Messenger...etc. I'm guessing yours is set up the same way, am I right? Beyond checking to make sure you set the two differently and also making sure the one you edited is the active profile...i'm slightly stumped!

Let me know what you find out...

For some reason I do not have a Voicemail option in my profile settings, SMS, Messages, Browser, Phone etc but no voicemail......could it be a software thing? Am I not current on something?
