Default If you had to choose ... Storm or Bold ?

Please Login to Remove!

Just curious ..... I'm trying to decide between the Storm 9530 and the Bold 9000. These are the choices I've narrowed it down to based on availability of items currently on Sale (offered for Free with a 3 year contract).

The Storm looks like the one to me, my only concern being overall performance as well as what it's like to use the Touchpad keys (as opposed to the acrtual keyboard).

Your feedback is greatly appreciated !

Touchscreen vs. Push Button. Three years is a long time. If keyboard doesnt matter, I would go with Bold. It has a better track record. You should try both. Please check each section in forum. There is a lot of info on both

Two different carriers and two different technologies. Storm is CDMA/GSM and 9000 is GSM.

What carrier are you going to use? Makes a difference.

What are your needs and wants?

How do you plan to use the device?

Wirelessly posted

Neither the Bold nor the Storm would make the 3 years so don't worry about it.
You will upgrade long before that.

Comes down to personal preference. Do you prefer touchscreens, or physical keyboard?

1. Don't cripple your smartphone by using it on a CDMA network.
2. If you're gonna do it, especially on a three-year contract, do it right. Get the new Storm or the new Bold.
3. If you're multimedia-driven, do a touchscreen. If you're messaging-driven do buttons.

Totally agree with the guys. I was also deciding what to get and I decided to get the storm 2 due to the bigger screen. Very nice for watching movies.

Pick your carrier first. Try them both out in person. It's like any other BB (or any smartphone, for that matter) comparison. You need to determine which device you prefer. My preferences don't matter unless they somehow happen to jive with yours.

Can you clarify what this means?

Thanks for the responses ! The Bold just went out of stock, so it likes like my mind is made up for me. I'm not much of a texter, but I am a multi-media person, so maybe it's just as well that I go with the Storm. The fact that they were free for a limited time while supplies last was the only reason I'm making the leap from my crappy old cellphone which I've used for the last 6 years. No way could I pay the $199 or $299 for the phone ... the Bold is touted as the fastest Blackberry available which made it a tough decision ...

If financially feasible, look closely at post #7 - 2)
The phones you are choosing will be obsolete very soon

CDMA limits multitasking voice and data services, case in point, calling vs GPS nav. Also, CDMA networks in the US tend to get BlackBerries late. Take the 83xx and 85xx-series Curves for example.

If you've waited six years, don't let what's currently "in-stock" limit you. There's a reason the 9700 flies off the shelf. LOL
