Default Garbled Text inserted in To: field

Please Login to Remove!

I am new here so please beer with me (i meant to spell it like that). I have a BB Curve 8310 user who enters an email address into the To: field and the address is replaced with a hodge podge assemblage of random text; i.e. she enters [email address] and it displays as P[;l\r once she tabs down to the next field. This only happens with one reciepient, who is a fellow employee on the same domain, happens whether she enters the address manually or selects it from the address book, and the emails do seem to go through. She is increasingly worried that they will stop going through, however. Does anyone have any ideas what can be causing this. Please afford me some patience while i investigate any suggestions offered as the user is in Connecticut, I am in Illinois. Thanks in advance, Jaybird

My first thought is it may be an error in the address book, delete the user and re enter it. The second may be the auto correct spelling. it may have been a combination it is detecting. .... I would vote the first suggestion.

What is displayed if she CC's you on a test email. do you see the garble?
Last option is to reload the address book from a backup...she does have one dosen't she?
The really really last option is to reload the OS.

I think your symbol key is turned ON. I mean sticky key is enabled. If anyone knows how to make SYMBOL key sticky or unsticky, please let me know. I googled for it but couldn't find it.

This only happens with this one specific recipient, not any others, so I don't see how it could be the symbol key being enabled.

Thank you all for your help and patience, got held up at home by sick kids today.
This is in fact only happening on one user, and only one app (mail) so I do not suspect the symbol key either. She forwarded me an email displaying on her BB with the garbled text, but the text was not garbled on my end. It was also fine on her Outlook.
Tsac- is there a way to turn off the auto correct to see if this resolves it. I do not have a BB in front of me so I need to be able to walk her through it. I will have her delete the address book entry and then download fresh from Exchange, if that does not work, I will have her scrub the entire address book and then download again. Will keep you posted on success. Please let me know if anyone has any other ideas. Thanks to all

Does anyone know how to delete email address cache. This might help, but I cannot find any straight forward directions online. This user is in CT and the directions I give her must be extremely spelled out.
