hey guys im a new bb user and new on the site, i bought the new curve 8530 like a week after it came out on verizon. at first the phone was great i loved it. i chose blackberry cause to reputation of being dominate over any other smart phone. after like a week after buying the phone i was very dissappointed. i setup my email and i didnt get messages for an hour after they were sent. i had to call and have some service books resent .ive had to do atleast 5 battery pulls a day since i got this thing. it freezes at random times essecially when i go to delete a convo on sms. and after it freezes i have to do a battery pull. this is totally not what i expected from blackberry. i have found a few tricks to make it a little better, like cleaning the memory and getting rid of useless apps but it still freezes. is there anything i can do? will they give me a replacment phone if i took it in or do you guys know of anything i can try? thanks

Is it possible this could be an issue with your hardware itself? Have you called your carrier about getting it swapped out under your warranty?


Has it always frozen like this, or did it start after you started downloading apps? Which apps do you have currently?

The issues you describe are not typical. When your handset is not functioning porperly, don't hesitate to take it back to the provider. If you have BerryWeather installed, it will cause the "freeze" behavior. BTW "alot" is not a word. Use "a lot."

it just randomly started when i really started to put in alot of use on it. and no i havent contacted them yet. i currently have facebook dictionary.com app google maps and pandora radio

I would say swap it with your carrier, let them know it's not functioning right.

How many mb of free memory do you have by chance?

After 10 days, mine does the same. Also my 'A' button works about 75% of the time, kind of annoying. I'm taking it back for an exchange tomorrow...

pf13, some of your problems could be memory related as well if you have both pandora and facebook running all the time. Those eat a lot of data and take up a nice chunk of memory as well. That will explain why a battery pull fixes it for a while since the pull shuts everything down and reboots the device. If you want to shut those down, make sure you use the "close" feature and not just exit out.

Next time it happens, check your free memory and post back how much you have.
