Default Recovering calendar entries automatically deleted by Bold

Please Login to Remove!

I've searched around these forums and found several people who seem to have the same issue I'm having:

For reasons beyond my comprehension, RIM has decided that calendar entries which a BlackBerry automatically expires (because it is set to the default 30 days, because it is running out of space, or because it randomly decides to) are no longer needed on the computer either, and thus removes entries it has expired from the computer upon synchronization. It seems to lack any option to synchronize only intentionally-deleted entries, but leave automatically-expired entries alone.

Nonetheless, it works how it works.

The response I'm seeing so far is "change the setting to keep them forever", but this only works so long as the BlackBerry does not decide to delete the items for some other reason.

The only reliable solution I've come across is to change to one-way synchronization. It's not a very nice solution, as changes I make on my BlackBerry aren't copied to the computer, but it does prevent the deletions.

But I'm left with a dilemma...

I've done that. My BlackBerry is less useful now, but at least it won't delete my stuff anymore. But it has already happened. The past ten years of calendar entries have ALREADY been deleted, and I need them.

I do have a back-up, but it is from after the BlackBerry did this. So... bleh.

If I understand correctly, Outlook actually keeps deleted items until the folders are "compacted." My data file is still huge, so I hope this is the case. But does anyone know of a way to recover the entries which have already been deleted? There is software out there, but it all seems to be targeted at recovering the e-mail, not the calendar.

Have you tried to use the options that always allow the Desktop data to be default?. It may be something linked to an option allowing the handheld to be default which would allow any setting in the handheld to override the PC information. I had the option selected to allow the handheld to be default and lost many emails and appointments i thought were also on the PC but found out otherwise.

This is from RIM

Overview
After accepting a Calendar appointment on the BlackBerry device, you click Reconcile Now on the BlackBerry device. This causes that particular appointment to be removed from both the BlackBerry device and the Calendar on the GroupWise client.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Resolution
Apply Service Pack 1 or later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Workaround
Change the Email Reconciliation options.

On the BlackBerry device, click Messages > Options.
Click Email Reconciliation.
In the Delete On field, change the option to either Handheld or Prompt.
Save your changes.
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

Anyway , welcome to the Forums

I have always had the desktop take priority.

If I delete an appointment on my BlackBerry, I want that appointment to be deleted on my computer, and vice-versa. But if the BlackBerry runs out of space and decides to clean out some older items to make room, it shouldn't then go and delete those items from the computer as well.

They should make a distinction between the entries intentionally deleted by the user, and entries automatically deleted by the device (for any reason).

But the point is moot. They don't.

Now I just want to recover the last ten years of calendar entries which have already been deleted.

The only option you may have is a backup previously performed.
