Default Backup Files Mayhem

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All, (I am ready to throw my BB out of the window)...

I have the 8320, have it for a year now, I dont know what version the Original OS was, but I upgraded Both my device OS and the DM. OS now is , v4.5.0.55 Platform 2.7.0.68 multilingual support , Desktop Manager is 4.6

After I did those Upgrades a few months ago, everything went to hell, I cannot access my Old Backup files anymore, I tried everything I could find online, the ABC, changing permission and security setting.. I even re-installed the old 4.3 DM and tried to do it, NADA...

I have several critical email addresses and phone number that I have to retrieve, and I have ran out of Ideas how to view these files. Whatever I do, its either Access denied , or cannot open the file.

if anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.

otherwise Im just going to jump ship, and get my self an Iphone !!

Default Accessing Process

Well First I tried to Restore the Old Backup File, from the DM Restore section, but when I try to select the .ipd file, its gives me the "Data file not recognized by Desktop" ...

I tried to go into Advanced section and try to do partial load from there, but in the Files Area, there are no IPD files listed, I dont mean they are shaded, there is nothing there, so I click on file and select the file Manually, it says cannot open File. So the DM does not recognize these files, I wonder why, Although it the same phone as before, just changed the OS on it.

Then I downloaded the ABC Amber software, and tried to Open the File(s), same problem, it says cannot open. but it does open the latest Backup Files.

Then when I try to Rename the file just in the windows Explorer, Access Denied, I tried to Edit it in notepad, access denied, I went to CMD and tried to Edit in there, Access Denied.

I uninstalled my DM 4.6 and re-installed 4.3 , same thing, but this time I get "Cannot Open File" ..

Im not sure if this is helpful but if you have any Ideas please let me know.

Default continued

I also started windows in safe mode, and tried to change the security settings for the file and ownership, it will not allow me to select read write delete.. bla bla.. even though I selected all users to be owners I still cannot select that these users can do read write.. so that was useless too .

Ok , read the attached. the first issue asks if you received an error during a backup.

The second is how to find and read the log files to see if an error occured.

The third is information on a read error during restore.

Default No change

Hello, thanks for the replies, but the links that were posted I have already tried them before, and one thing I noticed is that I don't have the Desktop[sync] in my Service book (on my phone). not sure if that is a problem or not, but since the instructions were to delete that entry then I don't think it should be the reason. Idont usually sync with outlook or anything else. I just do regular backups and restores once in a while.
