Hey all, I'm new here. ^_^ Uhm, so I'm moving to Beijing, China because of my dad's work and we're going to get China Mobile SIM cards when we're living there. Now, I want to get a Blackberry, but I was wondering if China Mobile has Blackberry services as of now, because I don't want to spend money on a blackberry if I can't have email, SMS, web browsing, etc., so does anybody know if they have it?

I know that the Blackberry model must have the 900 MHz frequency and I'm looking at the 7730 or the 8700r but I want to make sure that it will work before I buy it.

Why not just bring over a US device. I've used many BB's thru-out China without any issues - you'll like emailing from the Great Wall

If you buy it here, you would have to get it unlocked before you can change providers and pay full price so you don't end up with a long term contract with the US/Canadian provider.

I would suggest waiting until you get to China and buying it there.

Well I really don't want to be charged long distance + roaming charges when I want to call a Beijing number. Also, I really don't think that China Mobile sells Blackberry's, so getting one when arriving there is really out of the option. Getting one through Hong Kong would make it so I'd have roaming charges and long distance charges if used it in Beijing I think.

if you cant buy a blackberry in china then they don not offer the service(bb data plan). if they dont offer the service then all you can use is voice and sms, NO WAP. i checked online and the only provider that can offer you bb service is Hong Kong from 3, CSL. so dont buy it here aand plan to activate it with china mobile, they may offer them soon, but as of now there is no way for you to activate data. no data means no email no browsing and not even wap, only sms and voice on your blackberry.
