Default accessing address book from a backup

Please Login to Remove!

I have a few different backup files from my desktop manager. all with different sets of addresses. When I try and restore just the address book from the advanced secton of the desktop manager, I think it is overwriting my previous address book in the phone. is there any way to get the old deleted addresses without it overwriting the contacts?

Example:
old address book

Jane smith
555-1234

john doe
555-9876

well, my new address book has had entries deleted that I would like to recover, and also old entries with numbers changed

John doe
555-3385

but when I do my backup, it changes john doe back to the 555-9876 which is not working.

That's how it works. What you could do is merge the .ipd files.

Free download ABC Amber IPD Merger, combine multiple IPD files into a single file

sounds like a great idea, but what about the john doe conflict? what will happen with 2 of the same contact, just different numbers? and I have way too many mms and sms messages on the old backups that I don't particularly care for all I need is the address book.

Honestly, I am not sure what will happen. I have never merged ipd files.
