I have a bb 8310 curve through AT & T and I was wondering if anyone knows whether BB Maps will work or has AT & T restricted that as they have their own GPS offering ?

AT&T restricts BB Maps, but if you search the forum, there's a work around to get it working.

I think the work-around only works on 5.0 or later OS's...

No. I don't think so because the work around was available long before 5.0 was even leaked.
