Question How much data do these aftermarket programs use?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently installed BBweather and BBlocal and noticed how much downloading is involved for them to work.

Now, I only have 1MB a month on my data plan, so I really don't want to go over it. So do these programs use a lot of your data when downloading their necessary information?

Installing them alone probably used up your allotment for the month already, on a more serious note I would get an unlimited plan if I were you otherwise you are going to join the 300 phone bill club in a bit.

wow. i'm nervous on my 25 mb "unlimited" plan with rogers. I don't know how anyone can get by with only 1 mb.

I'm assuming that you're with rogers since you're in Hamilton and have a 7290- if you are a new activation, i beleive you'll have three months of unlimited data to test things out. you can look at your usage and decide if it works for you.

Note: Although I know that my plan came with three months unlimited data upon activation, I am not certain if the lesser plans (such as yours) include such an incentive. It is suggested that you contact rogers to confirm this to avoid any unwanted surprises.

I actually got 6 months unlimited everything, which I'll be testing things out with, but I was just curious as to how much these programs do use whenever you put them to use.

These programs, combined, easily use more than 1 megabytes per day of use. Expect to uninstall them when your unlimited trial is over. Definitely monitor your unlimited usage extremely carefully.

25 megabytes is woefully inadequate. Capped customers such as Rogers customers should not install bbLocal.

I'll be paying a hefty fee just to use 1MB...these prices for unlimted are rediculous.

If download size is an issue, almost all of these aftermarket products also have a zip file that can be downloaded from there site to a PC. From the PC use Desktop Manager's App Loader to push the app via a USB to the handheld. it takes an extra step, but you won't be charged for the download and you will also have a copy of the software on your pc for backup and restore if needed.

Ya, I did that. I know about that but just wondered about usage, especially when using BBlocal and you see it transmitting non-stop! lol

Do you know what I've never really figured out, Mark? Why haven't you gone to Bell?
