Default Blackberry IM issues.

Ok I need to explain:

I'm in the NYC subway, underground, and in one station I get a signal. My wife sends me an BB IM. So as I'm responding, the train starts to move again going into a tunnel and I know I'm going to lose the signal.

So I typed:
I'm on the train

And sent it as the train goes in the tunnel. Now that IM shows up on my wife BB underneath the message response box!! Where is usually says so and so is typing!

It says:
Mahal: I'm on the train

And it won't come off! We ended the conversation thread but everytime I IM her, it will pop back up in the same place. Underneath the message text box! We closed the cleared the conversation history and all, no dice. And once it pops up it doesn't come off.

Anyone ever seen something like this?

(we both have T-Mobile 7290s)
