Does the 4.0 release support catagories for Tasks or contacts? I know it supports wireless sync of Tasks. Does anyone know if it has catagories that sync with my catagories in Outlook?
You will have to do one full Desktop sync with Desktop 4.0 with BBOS 4.0 ... before turning on wireless synchronization though. You need BES 4.0 for wireless PIM synchronization. Mailstreet is now using BES 4.0 and my wireless PIM synchronization is working!
as far as i know, they will never have a categories option under calendar because of the thought that you are not going to schedule more than one appointment or meeting for the same time. However, they need to rethink this thought process because i keep events that are not related to me directly and appointments that are directly related to my schedule during the same time quite frequently. Maybe someone should mention it to RIM?
i wish i was important enough to have more than one meeting per week on my calendar. occasionally, i'll get two or three, but those are only on special weeks when we're going through a rather large application deployment into production.

Categories ARE important and should be included. I like to categorize all my appointments, tasks, and memos. The fact that Microsoft Outlook has categories for all three PIM's should, by necessity, force RIM to follow that form. Sometimes I have to sort by a category and it's very convenient when searching for an item.
True, I like to categorize also, it keeps me sane when stuff starts piling on, but you would have to make sure that you werent looking at the calendar filtered or you could double schedule yourself. BB's dont have the easy to view calendar that Outlook has, so your only options, at least for the 7290's, are to view in day, week, agenda, ect. which increases your potential to double book.
