Default Enabling Blackberry Online

Please Login to Remove!

I have just purchased an 8703e CDMA model Blackberry (on eBay) (from a seller in Canada) I will be using it to replace my old Motorola Q (which I have given up on) My service is with the Telus network. The phone is not enabled yet and the battery is charging. I received some messages from Telus when I turned on the phone and I am starting to set up my options. The phone looks nice and I am pleased with it.

My plan is to enable (switch over phones) online, as that seems to be the cheapest way to go. I also have the option of taking it into the store to activate. The phone currently has 4.1 version software installed and came with a copy of DM 4.3 on CD. I notice that there is an OS: 8703 4.2.1.201/4.2.1.119 (CDMA) version of the software available onsite (specifically states for CDMA) should I update to this version before I activate?

Note: I will just be using the phone for email and BM (on BIS) - I have no plans to use the web browser.

Also:There is an icon on the screen to 'activate BES' but nothing I can see to setup BIS email. Likely I will be able to set that up when I activate. Would anyone please care to advise on the best way to proceed?

Many Thanks

David

Just call your carrier and do it on the phone. Make sure you get the BB data plan added.

I would upgrade to OS 4.2

Thank you: I have done that and have the phone working. I do not seem to have any options available to setup email accounts via BIS though (I have added unlimited email to my account & BM) with support.

I will try to setup from the Telus website.

Did you get a Blackberry Data plan?. If not you do not get aditional mail boxes and you also do not have BIS access. A regular data plan does not work.

Thank you all for the help: Telus have a $15 a month unlimited email and BM plan (no web browsing) and that what I setup. It took awhile to change over (from my old Smartphone data plan) The good news is that I am back in business and am setting my email accounts now.

Cheers
