hi..i'm a new blackberry user!..
what does a black circle outlined in white with a white arrow coming in from top right side mean..it appears at the top of the screen to the left of date/time

It means you didn't use the search feature.

I have the same blackberry, I was a bit baffled by that to start with. It means there is an update in BB world. It usually shows up in just your 'messages' section, not your SMS and MMS folder, or email folder.
