Default Windows 7 Tethering

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, I am a Rogers Customer with a 8310 Curve model. I want to tether to my Curve to occasionally connect to the internet.

Contacted Rogers and they only have the step by step instructions for XP which I followed to the letter but with no luck.

Anyone out there know how to tether with Windows 7?

Thanks

There are two options that I am aware of..

1,upgrade your version of Desktop Manager to the latest version which has built in tethering support. You can get it from here.

2,to set up tethering manualy in Windows 7 is the same as Vista.I followed the guide here when I first did it but there is almost certainly a guide in the faqs here in this forum.

Peter, what size data plan do you have? Rogers does not allow tethering unless you have 1 GB or more.

Check the Tether BlackBerry | BlackBerry Modem | Tether

I found their tethering app is quite good. The app is utilizing the Blackberry Internet service, rather traditional DUN offered by network carriers.

500 mb, I read something about that but when I called and asked about tethering, I assumed the guys saw my account and knew I was only 500 mb, silly me for thinking Rogers would conenct A & B, the guy was hung up on the fact that they didn't have a Windows t data sheet on how to do it, I'll investigate this a bit more. Thanks

Yeah, Rogers does not allow tethering unless you have 1GB or more.

The reps should know things like that, but unfortunately the tech reps do not know how to check what services you have on the account, and the care reps who know don't have a brain when it comes to tech stuff.

I apologize. I'm not sure if there is a work around for this.

Hey, I actually downloaded the newest version of desktop manager and used the tethering connection utility and was online instantly. With 500 mb no less. I'll follow up and make sure my 1 mb test didn't cost me $200 though, thanks for all of your help guys.
