Exclamation Edge network supports youtube? - 02-09-2010, 12:35 AM

Hey guys I have the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and it runs pretty good. But the question I have today is, why the edge network has such terrible connection and quality to youtube and other video sharing sites. It takes 1266485 years to buffer and it still pauses and skips. Does this happen on all the other networks to? And alos my micro USB charging port on my phone is really loose and sometimes doesn't charge my phone. Can I get this fixed?

You have to understand that the edge network is like dialup compared to 3G. What you are experiencing may not be entirely unexpected. Are you using the mobile Youtube site?

You can experience great speed variations while on EDGE. If you have a slow EDGE connection then YouTube will behave just like you're seeing. Nothing for it but to get to a 3G coverage area. I found that even with AT&T's 3G there was a ton of speed variation. It all depends on how many users are currently on that node. When I switched to Sprint YouTube was consistently smooth.
