It is on TMobile. We have 1 phone acct w/o the data option and we have the benefit of the PIM functions and a good phone.

You don't need to change any software or hardware.

Just get a voice plan from your carrier and don't get a Blackberry data plan.
(If your carrier allows it.)

Yes, absolutely. Even without BB account setup, you still have voice and SMS and can still sync outlook (except email) with your PC by USB cable. Been doing it for months with my 7280's

I would like to avoid an automatic search for e-mail and if possible I would like to decide when and if I want to receive e-mails
