Unhappy sorry, I need help

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. My name is Laura
My mother is deaf and she just got the 7290 bb I believe.
she is in Pittsburgh and I am in Wyoming and I am trying to help her figure this out. She signed up with t-mobile and they were practically USELESS.
It seems her bb works great and instantaneous with sms.
We would love for her to get her emails instantaneously also.
It seems like it is checking for her mail on a time schedual...like every ten minutes...but again it is so hard to tell as I am so far away.
She is using this for her personal use-not on an enterprise server ( I beleive that is BES)

After that is figured out she would like to somehow import her outlook express email addresses.
Her email address on her blackberry is different than the one she uses in OE.

Also one more thing- is there a way to add an address (email) to your
bb when one comes in ?

I have tried looking at the faq's and stickys and got frustrated. I am sorry this is so hard to do long distance.

Thanks for any advise.
Laura Drew

To speed up(push your e-mails) rather than poll which sounds like what you are doing now, have the mail pushed to the BB right from outlook. You do that via tools - > rules and alerts. Then make sure you do not use the BIS account to poll the -mail otherwise you will have duplicates/

BTW have you heard of the free application called ip-relay, if you havent go here, this should be extremely helpful:

http://www.ip-relay.com/index.htm

Hope this helps.

First, about getting her outlook contacts into her blackberry, I assume this is on here personal PC. She will need to install the Desktop Manager on her PC. This came on the CD tha came with her blackberry. Once installed, she will need to configure the sync options to sync with her outlook contacts. Once that's done she can sync her BB and it will fill her BB contacts list.

As to the email timing issue, I don't use TMO and they have a different method of setting up email so I can't help you there.

Hope this helps.

rcbjr,
does the desktop manager sync with Outlook Express's address book as well as Outlooks?
As far as the email goes, I found on tmobiles site a place called My tmobile.
I logged into that and set her up with a [email address] email address and now that is working great...coming right thru (push email)
You know those stores should not sell stuff they know nothing about. I learned more in 15 minutes on your site then the guys at the tmobile store knew!! I think we got it now...except for the address book part.
I will have her look at the desktop manager.
Thanks Laura

I am not positive, but I would assume that it treats Outlook and Outlook Express the same. Glad you got her email set up.

Hope this helps.

I am surprised you could change anything on the tmobile site that would help her email (unless she is only using the blackberry addy and not another). Generally, when you set it up on the BIS, it is polled every 10-15 minutes. In order to get instant (3-5 seconds) email, you need to go to her email server and forward a copy of the email to her [email address] type of addy. Then remove her addy from the TMO webclient otherwise you get 2 copies of each message about 15 minutes apart.

If she is just using the BB addy directly, maybe going to the webclient and pushing the service books helped.

From Outlook, you can sync up the contact info (addresses/phone numbers, email addy), calendar, tasks & memos. I am not sure about express. But like prior responses said, it really is pretty easy. You don't want to type phone numbers etc, directly into the BB, it is much easier to get your outlook all set up and then just sync it up.

I am a T-Mobile BIS user, and since they went to the new setup, I get my emails off my personal domain within about 15 seconds of it hitting the server. I don't have it forwarded anywhere either.

From tmobiles web site there is a My Tmobile page. I logged into her page and added a
blackberry address...this one-the one that ends in tmo.blackberry.com
pushed email immediately.
the other one -the one we added with her isp (it is comcast) still gets email but like every 10 or 15 minutes.
She is coming for christmas so I can just delete it (the comcast one) when she gets here.

If you go to the comcast mail server and forward it, that mail will be instant too.
