I have a 3800 edge and am having troubles with my prepaid sim. I have spoken to the carrier and there are no problems with the card and it works in my other phones. When I try to make a call on the blackberry it says I have call restriction and to contact carrier. I removed the card and rebooted and it worked for about 5 minutes and then the call barring message came on again. I am a novice to the blackberry and am getting quite annoyed. Can someone please help.

There is no BB 3800. Is it an 8300 perhaps?

There could be a couple different problems. First, it could be locked to another carrier. What carrier name is on the cover? If that is the case, then you would need to get an unlock code. Not sure what that would cost however.

Second, it could have been reported as lost or stolen or the previous owner's account is in arrears. If that is the case, then you have a pretty paperweight.
