Default Blackberry 8830 Verizon (No Data Plan)

Is there any way to put a Blackberry 8830 Verizon phone on the Verizon network without a data plan?

I don't use text, email, etc. I have no desire to use them on my phone (plus VZ is $30/month for this.)

I do want to put the phone on the Verizon network, to just use the phone. My motivation in doing this is so I can use the other applications on the phone (alarm clock) that don't need the network.

If it makes a difference, I am a Mac user. I don't have AT&T/Iphone because I spend ALOT of time in places with no AT&T service.

Thanks

Just read in another thread that it's not possible.

Selling the phone on Ebay then.

Sorry for the dumb question.

Welcome to the forums.

Verizon, nor any of the bigger telecommunication companies will place a BB on their network without a data plan. To be quite honest, a BB is not a BB without the data plan. If you do not want or need data, the BB is not the right device for your needs. I would suggest a different device.

Good Luck

This is a fairly recent development (within the last year or so), and after Verizon started this policy all the major carriers followed suit.
