Default Remap Keyboard (Please be Gentle)

Please Login to Remove!

Gentlefolk-

So I got a BlackBerry Curve in order to use Messenger to communicate with my Honey in Panama. I an Old Person so I had some students set it up for me. It works great, thanks for asking.

The only outstanding issus at this point in the keyboard. My BlackBerry came with instructions in French (only). The keyboard is the normal QWERTY layout, but the Q and A are reversed. (I smash A and get a Q, Q gives me an A.)

I presume I have French keyboard mapping.

How do I remap the keyboard?

Type slowly as I am stupid.

OK, any ideas why the function of these keys is reversed?

It could be because of water damage, unfortunately.

Perhaps, but there are anumber of keys (A & Q and a few more) that are reversed as pairs. That is to say, all the keys do something, but a number of sets are reversed. I'm still betting on somesort of silly European keyboard.

If it only came with french instructions, its likely to be a French model.
Therefore the french keyboard map.

My guess is someone swapped the keyboard to a QWERTY keyboard thinking that it would remap the keys and when they realized it wouldn't, they sold it.

You may want to look for a AZERTY keyboard. http://cnn.cn/shop/blackberry-curve-...ty-p-7820.html
Where did you get the device?

I got it at the Razeat Mall. I just took it over there and they asked for half an hour to noodle it out. I went to Fudruckers for lunch. When I got back, they offered to exchange my BB for just a hundred riyals, if I kept the box. Of course I do not have the box. They told me to take my silly problem to the Service Center on King Abdullah street.

So much for the warrantee.

1. What is the vendor ID on the device?
On the homescreen press and hold the ALT key while typing E A C E
You won't see a place to enter those letters, just type them, to pull the Help screen.
What is the Vendor ID listed there?

2. Your keyboard probably is likely moisture related UNLESS someone has replaced a QWERTY devices with maybe an AZERTY keyboard.
What does your keyboard look like?

Like this?

This?

Or this?
