Exclamation persistent app error 200, PLS HELP!!

Please Login to Remove!

Few days back i tried updating my software as my bold 9000 is lagging and i was told by the service provider staff to do so. After validating my phone, i downloaded the bb manager and started to update my phone. It showed that i had 181 updates and total file size was only 72mb. When the bb manager stated updating of OS half way through, my device got disconnected when it's still connected properly. It was then my bold 9000 started to restart itself and shows app error 200. I've tried resetting it several times, by using alt + right shift+ del but it just goes back to showing a white screen again with app error 200. Not even taking the battery out helps, does anyone here have any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Were you using a usb hub, or usb connection on a keyboard, or something like that? Maybe using a netbook or laptop?

I'm thinking you need to wipe the device and then install the OS over again.

See

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

and

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

Once you've wiped the device you will see 507 error (no OS). Either download the device software from your carrier and follow the directions to install it, or see the thread here on the forum for the latest OS for your model and follow the directions in the post.

And do not use a hub or keyboard connection, etc. If you are using a laptop or netbook, use a desktop if you can, and use a usb connection on the back of the box. Later you can experiment and find out which usb connections may not be providing enough power.

i'm using a macbook pro to update the software, through a connection of usb port on the laptop itself. The bold can't even be detected by the laptop now and it just keep restarts if i put the battery in. I can't even open the application folder on the bb manager.

Sounds like you need to get access to a pc. JL_Commander to wipe, Loader.exe to re-install. Works better than Desktop Manager for me. I'm a Mac user as well, but I keep an old IBM ThinkPad around for just such eventualities. The Mac Desktop Manager Software was an excellent start, but we're far from having parity with Windows in this particular arena.

So does it mean that i cannot use my macbook to wipe the blackberry and then reinstall the OS here? I have to use only a desktop instead?

You need Windows for JL_Commander to wipe. You can run it on an Intel-based MacBook, but you still need Windows. You also need Windows to run Loader.exe, which is better for installing a new OS than Desktop Manager IMHO. DM is fine for restoring your data and syncing, and the Mac and Windows versions are pretty close in capabilities in those respects.

Okay, thanks so much for the information. Currently, i'm trying to download the software for bold 9000 but there are too many options and i don't know which software platform my bold is as i can't check it now, since it keeps resetting itself. May i know where to check the software platform?

Options > About, and look for v x.x.x.xxx.

On my Tour it's the third line. Alternately, you can press Alt + Shift + H at the same time to get another information screen. Look for App Version on that screen.

OP doesn't need to know anything about what was on the device, right? Besides, sounds like it can't be accessed anyway. Right? ..... I
believe t
he
solution is either download the device software for your model from you carrier, or see the latest OS thread here on the forum for your model and follow the directions in the thread.

Okay, but would it affect anything if i download the 4.6 OS and the software platform any will do? Cause i'm afraid it would affect the wiping and reinstalling. Yes, it can't be accessed at all and even connecting the blackberry to a pc it cannot be read. I really don't know how to wipe it, when the bold can't even connect.

Ignore "Platform". Look at "App Version", that is your OS version.

You can re-install the OS version distributed by your carrier for your model, or download the lastest OS out there for your model.

You can install the OS distributed by any carrier for your model. If you go that route, follow the instructions in the latest OS thread for your model here on the forum, and follow the instructions exactly.

See the link above re what to do if the device will not connect. Sometimes people have to repeat many times. There are threads which mention various techniques, but can't recall exactly. Maybe someone else will commenent. But if you don't get it after some trying, do a search in the JL-CMDER thread and also search on JL_CMDER and you should find good info.

What happens if you remove the battery for half a minute and then replace it?

My bold is now connected and the application loader wizard says that

'The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator.'

but i have already downloaded the OS. How do i continue on? :(

I put the battery back and the red led light showed and the screen went back to all white with the same old hour glass.
